Meet the Founder
I’m Sherese Reed, founder of Staged Smart. As a theatre educator, director, and coach, i’ve spent more than 13 years helping artists find their voice, supporting educators through creative practice, and partnering with schools to create meaningful learning and theatrical experiences. I believe theatre has the power to transform lives, and my work is rooted in creating experiences that inspire confidence, creativity, and lasting impact.
My Story
Raised in the inner city of Newark, NJ I caught the acting bug from my grandmother who created her college theatre club. With her encouragement, I attended Arts High School the first performing arts high school in the country. Like most of us I struggled as a teen, but being involved with theatre helped me tremendously. Theatre has always been more than performance to me. It helped me build confidence, develop empathy, and discover my voice. Theatre became more than entertainment, it became a tool for growth, development, impact, and change. Whether I’m directing a production, teaching a classroom of middle school students, or coaching an audition, my goal is always the same: to create meaningful experiences through theatre.
That early experience shaped not only my love of theatre, but also my belief in its power to transform lives. For over a decade, my work has included directing productions, coaching college auditions, leading professional development, and helping young artists grow both on and off the stage.
Staged Smart was created to bring all of those experiences together into one place—offering coaching, educational resources, and creative partnerships that empower artists and educators alike.
